About Our Genealogy Society The Marathon County Genealogical Society is a group of professional and amateur genealogists researching and documenting our family histories, while trying to make the road easier for those who follow us. The purpose of this chapter shall be educational, to provide an association of persons interested in genealogical pursuits by means of holding meetings for the instruction and pleasure of its members. Society meetings will be held the second Tuesday of every month with the exception of August and December at the Marathon County Historical Society. It is located at 410 McIndoe Street, Wausau, Wisconsin. Programs begin at 6:30pm. In January and February we meet in the aftertoon at 1:30pm at the Historical Society. For a map and driving directions, click here. The Pinery Pedigree is published six times a year beginning with July. The newsletter and query requests are provided free for members. Annual membership to the Society begins July 1st and ends June 30th, dues are $10 for individuals, and $15 for family (living at same address) or individuals living outside the U.S. Anyone interested in genealogy can become a member regardless of residency. New members are always welcome!
